National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

The Hawthorns School Sports Centre, in partnership with the RLSS, offers a variety of courses.

NPLQ

Becoming a lifeguard is a route to a fulfilling job that could lead to you saving someone’s life one day.

Lifeguards are an integral part of the staff at a swimming pool. They keep an eye on everything happening from poolside and are qualified to intervene if a person is in trouble.

The role is nearly always offered on a part-time basis and this flexibility means it is often taken up by young people at college or university.

For many, becoming a lifeguard provides an excellent foundation for a career in the leisure industry. Many Pool Managers began their professional careers as lifeguards.
